Barrons has always been proud to support our local community. As our business has grown over the years, our involvement has come to take a variety of forms. From supporting our key charity partners to working with local schools and sponsoring grassroots and professional sports teams and individuals.

Whilst we work with companies all over the UK, Barrons is proud to be a local, Essex-based business. As such we are keen to play a role in supporting our community.

Our Charity Work

We are proud to support Havens Hospices and South East and Central Essex Mind with the work they do.

Barrons in the community We are proud to support  Havens Hospices all year round but in particular, we are heavily involved and long-time supporters of their ‘Play on the Pitch’ event which takes place annually. Our work with Havens Hospices is led by Director, Russell Tillbrook, and we work with a range of local businesses to help the Havens team put on this popular and well-attended event which includes a charity raffle and auction. Members of our team take part in the game itself, which raises vital funds for the hospices.

Barrons in the community

We have a long-standing relationship with South East and Central Essex Mind (SECE Mind) and support the work they do across a variety of events and initiatives. Our team have hosted bake sales and ‘Wear it Blue’ days as part of Mental Health Awareness Day with proceeds going directly to our partners at SECE Mind. We are proud sponsors of the Mental Elf run which takes place every December. Every year some of our own elves take part in this festive event. Our charity work with SECE Mind is led by our Managing Partner, Gary Raven.

School Engagement

We believe young people should leave school informed of their career options and equipped with the tools to help them secure the right role for them. Our work with schools takes the form of career evenings, presentations on our industry and workshops on CVs and interviews. We hope that by interacting with young people at a key stage of their decision-making, we can provide the information they need to decide if a career in accountancy is a good option for them.

Our  apprenticeship evenings are a continuation of this engagement with schools. We invite young people with a genuine interest in becoming an accountancy apprentice to come and meet our team. These evenings aim to provide more information about what’s involved and an opportunity to meet with our current apprentices, many of whom started after joining a previous event.

Sponsoring Grassroots and Professional Sport

The team at Barrons are heavily involved in grassroots sports and activities. We are also keen supporters of many local professional teams. Outside of work, some of our team coaches local teams and we are keen to support them in these roles.

Barrons in the communityWe are delighted to have sponsored the Concord Rangers girls’ team for three years in a row and have been so pleased to see them successfully win the league and cup in the 23/24 season. Coached by our Director, Russell Tillbrook, we are looking forward to seeing what the future brings for the team.

Also, in the field of rugby, Jason ‘Mich’ Michelow from our Business Advisory has very close links with one particular player. His son, Nathan,  worked for Barrons during his school holidays. He is now a senior academy player at Saracens and Barrons are delighted to be sponsoring his exciting journey,
