Christmas Payroll Deadlines 2026: Important Dates for Employers

With Christmas approaching, it’s important to plan ahead to ensure your employees are paid on time over the festive period. Here’s everything you need to know about Barrons Christmas payroll processing deadlines and office closure dates.

The festive season is a busy time for businesses, and with Christmas holidays and office closures to consider, payroll arrangements can easily get overlooked.

At Barrons, we want to make sure our clients have plenty of time to prepare, so we have outlined our key payroll submission deadlines for December 2026.

Whether your employees are paid weekly or monthly, please take note of the dates below to help us process your payroll before the Christmas break.

When is Barrons closed for Christmas?

Our offices will be closed from Thursday 24 December 2026, reopening on Monday 4 January 2027.

To ensure payroll can be processed ahead of our Christmas closure, we’re asking clients to submit their payroll information earlier than usual.

Weekly Payroll Deadlines – December 2026

Payroll week     Week commencing Submission deadline
Week 37     14 December 2026       Monday 14 December 2026
Week 38     21 December 2026      Thursday 17 December 2026
Week 39     28 December 2026      Monday 21 December 2026

Monthly Payroll Deadlines – December 2026

For clients whose payroll is processed monthly, we kindly ask that you submit your December payroll information by:

Preferred deadline: Monday 14 December 2026

Final deadline: Thursday 17 December 2026

Submitting your information by the preferred date will give our team more time to process your payroll and address any queries before the Christmas break.

If you expect to have any issues meeting these dates, please let us know in advance.

Why is it important to submit payroll information early?

Christmas can affect normal working arrangements, with businesses closing, employees taking annual leave and payment dates sometimes falling earlier than usual.

Providing your payroll information ahead of the deadlines helps us:

  • Process employee payments in good time.
  • Address any payroll queries before our Christmas closure.
  • Account for changes to working hours, overtime or holiday pay.
  • Reduce the risk of last-minute delays.

We recommend reviewing your December payroll arrangements now, particularly if your employees will be paid earlier than usual.

Need assistance with your Christmas payroll?

We understand that December can be a particularly busy month, and there may be circumstances that make it difficult to meet the usual processing arrangements.

If you have any questions about the Christmas payroll deadlines, or anticipate any issues submitting your information on time, please get in touch with our payroll team.
