Who We Are
Our Team: Good with numbers, great with people. We’ve got a great team of highly trained professionals who combine enthusiasm with a broad base of technical skills to provide the complete business solution. To complement our practical tax, accounting and audit advice we have specialists in business growth strategies I.T, wealth management and corporate finance.
Gary is our Managing Partner – taking overall responsibility for the delivery of great client service within a proactive and developing range of service offerings.
Gary hates bean counting – his interest lies in delivering business development and client support services that are tailored to maximise the value that Barrons can provide to assist our clients in delivering their dreams and aspirations.
Gary draws upon a wide range of business expertise having operated in industry and undertaken numerous consultancy roles in a turnaround and interim management capacity, as well as having worked extensively within the Banking industry developing client business plans and projections as well as supporting Bank independent reporting assignments.
Gary is a qualified Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Gary is a devoted sports fan, and is very easily lost to most sports that are there to be supported, particularly where England are concerned!
An avid supporter of rugby and cricket in particular, Gary was proud to be present as England won the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia and made the final of the 2007 Rugby World Cup in France (and is ready with tickets for a repeat of the 2003 win in England in 2015) and considers himself privileged to have been at Edgbaston in 2005 when England won the pivotal Second Test against the Aussies when a certain Freddie Flintoff came to town…
Add to that attendance at Olympics 2012, seeing Usaine Bolt win the 100m and Christine Ohuruogu the silver in the 400m one week and then Luke Campbell win gold the next, and many boxing trips including watching Lewis fight Holyfield at Madison Square Gardens…
And did I mention tennis, football, horse racing…
Other interests are, of course, my family, personal training and walking.
Richard is a Partner of the Practice and is our in house guru when it comes to making computers talk to each other whilst heading up our Bureau Services division that encompasses book keeping, management accounting, payroll and company secretarial services.
Richard’s interests lie specifically in making computers do the legwork on accounts assignments and he has been instrumental in developing systems that enable us to download data from most Management Systems, helping us to quickly investigate, review and report data back to our clients in a way that has not been possible until recently.
Richard is the longest serving member of our Team, having commenced employment with the Practice way back in 1986. He has operated in a variety of roles within the Practice over the years and consequently brings a diverse range of skills and experience to the table.
Richard is a qualified Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Certified Accountants.
Richard is an avid golf player and general all round sportsman, regularly winning the Barrons inter firm tournaments much to the Team’s annoyance!
In his spare time, when not swinging his clubs (and we do mean swinging), Richard is a health and fitness freak, who enjoys taking his dog for long walks.
Russell is a Partner of the Practice, who specialises in handling the delivery of statutory accounting and auditing services by the firm as well as taking a keen interest in supporting start up business.
Russell is keen to build long term networking relationships and invests a good proportion of his time in developing contacts that he hopes will prove beneficial to both the Practice and the clients generally. Unlike Gary, Russell enjoys the statutory side of the business and has been instrumental in setting up a benchmarking service that is allied to the annual reporting function.
Having been with Barrons since 2001, Russell qualified with the Practice and has progressed through the firm to become a Partner and the Practice RI, as well as taking responsibility for the Compliance function of the Practice ICAEW registration.
Having recently had to hang up his boots and end his illustrious (?) football playing days and, seeking something just as painful to do at weekends, Russell has become a season ticket holder at Southend United.
Russell enjoys playing golf and badminton on a regular basis when not spending time with his wife Elaine and three young daughters.
Chris Bray is the Practice Manager – and don’t we know it!
Chris deals with everything!!
Chris has been with the Practice nearly as long as Richard and is passionate about the continuing development of the Practice.
Chris’ interests extend predominantly to her grandchildren and the occasional spot of gardening. As you can see, the grandchildren take centre stage…
Tax service manager
Lisa is a qualified accountant and is currently undertaking her chartered taxation exams.
Having qualified with Barrons originally, she has recently returned from a year spent at a large firm in London to take up the tax manager role.
Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her horses and going for the odd run.
Management Services Manager
Jo is part of our Management Services team, specifically responsible for the Company Secretarial division as well as being our in house expert in all matters relating to VAT.
Jo is another member of our Team who has experienced what life is like in the commercial world, something Barrons prides itself upon as we think that experiencing first hand what clients face every day helps with understanding needs and dispensing relevant and practical advice.
Jo is a qualified Certified Accountant, and has been with the Practice since 2005.
Jo is now the proud mother of two lovely children after many years of protesting that she never wanted kids!
We do not know when the maternal instinct finally arose but we do know that the children are at the centre of her world – along with her love of cars which takes up all of her remaining social time either building or repairing classics or visiting shows or Hot Rod events.
Payroll Service Manager
As Payroll Managers for Barrons, Tina’s role is to provide bespoke Payroll Services to our clients.
Tina specialises in all areas of Payroll, and is currently focusing upon implementing system enhancements to accommodate the requirements of Real Time filing systems and Auto Enrollment.
With 20 years plus experience in this field, Tina has attained a wide knowledge of HMRC rules and regulations regarding all aspects of payroll including Tax, NI, Sick Pay, Maternity & Paternity Pay and the new Employment Allowance, and keeps herself regularly updated as each Budget changes the rules!
Tina spends most of her free time with her extensive family, currently extending to 7 children and 2 grandchildren.
She enjoys relaxing with a good book or watching movies with the family & hunting for bargains at the local Boot Sales when the weather permits.
